The 2016 Primeurs campaign continues today with the following releases from Margaux, Saint-Emilion and Pomerol.

Chateau d'Issan Primeurs 2016Chateau d’Issan – Margaux

Chateau d’Issan is an 1855 Classified 3rd Growth from the Margaux appellation with a strong and rich history. In 1152, it was used for the marriage of Alienor d’Aquitaine and Henri Plantagenet (known as La Mothe-Cantenac). The Essenault family is responsible for naming Chateau d’Issan. The estate is now co-managed by the Cruse family, and Francoise and Jacky Lorenzetti. Chateau d’Issan is a vineyard of 44 hectares producing Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon on gravel and clay. The attention and precise vinification that the vines receive and undergo are the reason that this incredible wine is highly coveted.

Clos Fourtet Primeurs 2016Clos Fourtet – Saint-Emilion

1st Grand Cru Class B in the Saint-Emilion appellation, Clos Fourtet has belonged to Philippe Cuvelier since 2001. The chateau’s name comes from its history and location. It was a former “camp fortet” (small fort) which was used to defend the town of Saint-Emilion. “Clos” (enclosed plot) is a tribute to the wall surrounding the 20 hectare vineyard that is constructed from calcareous stones from the soil. The terroir is composed of clay and limestone soil. The grape varieties planted are Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. They are planted using biological treatments and biodynamic farming. The historic know-how of Clos Fourtet and its ideal soil make it possible to produce wines with outstanding potential.
